Have you felt the need to just zoom past the toll gate while going out of the city without going through the pain of waiting endlessly? Thanks to advancement in technology, it is now possible with Fastags.  The Fast-Tag System allows for faster approvals at the toll gate.

There are different axles (the part which helps to connect the front and back wheels and helps to rotate them). Violet colour fast-tag for car, jeep, van, etc. Orange colour fast-tag for minibus & 2axle light commercial vehicle. Green colour fast-tag for 2axle bus & truck. Yellow colour fast-tag for 3axle bus & trucks. Pink colour fast-tag for 4, 5, 6axle bus & trucks. Sky blue colour fast-tag for 7, 8 or greater than 8 axle bus & trucks. Black colour fast-tag for Heavy Construction Machinery (HCM) & Earth Moving Equipment (EME).

The fast-tag works on the principle of Radio Frequency Identification technology (RFID) which was introduced by National Electronic Toll Collection Programme (NETC). There are two main components of RFID technology; 1. RFID tag / Fast-tag, 2. RFID Scanner.

When your vehicle enters into the zone of the scanner the scanner scans the tag which consists your tag ID, bank name, customer care number and logos. There are two main components in the tag which cannot be seen through our naked eyes. They are; Chip and Antenna.

The chip contains all our details with which it can be decided what should be the toll fare of our vehicle. With the help of the antenna the scanner could easily collect the details of our vehicle.

After scanning the information is transmitted to the computer of the collector. Now all the details are forwarded to the acquirer bank (the bank of the toll collector). After getting the details the acquirer bank sends the information to NETC mapper to find out whether the fast-tag details are valid. If the tag isn’t valid the NETC mapper tells to acquirer bank that it is not valid and the bank sends it to the toll collector.

If the tag is valid then NETC mapper sends a debit request to the issuer bank (the bank of the vehicle owner), now issuer bank deducts money from the account of the fast-tag holder and sends the information to NETC mapper and the mapper forwards it to the acquirer bank and the acquirer bank forwards it to the toll collector saying “Transaction Successful”.
